Marriage is an institution ordained by God Almighty. In his infinite wisdom, he knew that man needed a partner, that’s why he created the first woman; Eve. By that act, God aptly portrays the significance of marriage; man needs a spouse, a partner, a soulmate, a confidant, a helper and a companion. As we know, marriage is also the foundation and pathway to raisng a family.

Marriage is a sacred institution, God decreed that marriage should be a lifelong commitment, thus the phrase; till death do us part. A man and a woman joined together as husband and wife should live forever as one. God frowns at divorce or any form of separation in marriages. Sadly, that seems to be the order of the day in our modern world.

These days, it’s not inconceivable to see a marriage break up after 2 weeks! Broken marriages and separations are a common phenomenon now. In some cases, you even find marriages that are hanging on a cliff’s edge; married couple living under the same roof but thst are bitter enemies.

Diverse factors are responsible for this ugly trend; money, infidelity, childlessness, family interference, distrust, etc. The truth is, we cannot rule out differences and frictions in relationships/marriages but we must learn to wisely handle and resolve our differences when they arise. Partners in happy relationships painstakingly nurtured it by been tolerant and developing good listening skills. Listening involves understanding and accepting differences in personality and character and crucially also, knowing your partner’s likes and dislikes.
